About us

About Us

Our Story

Flying Protein is a Zimbabwean AgriTech venture committed to solving two critical challenges: food waste and unaffordable animal feed. In a country that produces more than 26,000 tons of food waste daily—while struggling with expensive, imported feed ingredients like fishmeal and soy—we saw an opportunity to innovate.

Leveraging Manna Insect’s BSF technologies and productive use of  renewable energy (PURE), we are piloting decentralised BSF farming units that can be deployed in urban and rural settings to repurpose waste into value.

The operational goal is to build a broad network of individual insect farmers that supports the sustainable organic waste management with insects and enables large-scale production of insect protein and biofertiliser without significant investment costs in a centralised factory model.

Our Purpose

We exist to catalyse the circular bioeconomy in Zimbabwe by providing scalable, decentralised, and tech-enabled insect farming systems that enhance farmer livelihoods, reduce environmental harm, and foster food system resilience.
