Powering Zimbabwe’s Green Growth with Insects and Innovation
Flying Protein is transforming Zimbabwe’s organic bio waste into climate-smart solutions—producing high-quality animal feed and organic fertiliser through decentralised Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming units powered by solar energy and advanced technology
What We Do
We’re bridging the gap between waste management and agricultural productivity. Using nature’s recyclers—Black Soldier Fly larvae—we convert organic waste into premium protein feed and nutrient-rich fertiliser, creating a resilient and inclusive circular economy.
Quick Stats
200+ tons of organic biowaste upcycled weekly
10,000+ farmers to benefit from reduced feed costs
25–37.5% reduction in animal feed prices
Powered by solar and Manna MIND™ IoT systems
Supporting Zimbabwe’s transition to sustainable agriculture
Reduced Greenhouse Gas emissions in feed and fertilizer production
Black Soldier Fly Larvae Farming
Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) farming presents a compelling project due to its multifaceted benefits. Environmentally, BSFL are nature’s recyclers, efficiently converting organic waste into valuable biomass, thus reducing landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions. This bioconversion process also yields frass, a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer that improves soil health and reduces the need for synthetic chemicals. Economically, BSFL offer a sustainable and cost-effective protein source for animal feed, potentially lowering production costs for farmers and increasing their income. Furthermore, BSFL farming requires minimal land and water compared to traditional agriculture, making it an accessible and resource-efficient venture, particularly beneficial for small-scale farmers and promoting a circular economy.
